‘The Black Phone’ is a horror film starring Scott Derrickson (‘Doctor Strange’). Based on Joe Hill’s short anonymous story. The story follows a shy but intelligent 13-year-old named Finney Shaw, who was abducted by a murderer named “The Grabber.” When Finney wakes up, he finds himself locked in a locked room with nothing but the phone disconnected from the room.

Where Was The Black Phone Movie Filmed?
‘The Black Phone’ was completely recorded in North Carolina, especially in the states of New Hanover, Brunswick, and Columbus. Ethan Hawke’s star-studded photography began in February 2021 under the active title ‘Static’ and wrapped up at the end of March of that year.
Located in the southeastern region of the United States, North Carolina is known for its variety of heights and locations. Located at 1223 North 23rd Street in Wilmington, the studio has 10 sections with 150,000 square feet of columnless shooting space. It also contains several mills, a wardrobe, special effects shop, dec/prop stage, water resources, and production offices.

Reportedly, other parts of the film were also filmed in parts of Wilmington and New Hanover County, including North Chase, an isolated community, and the New Hanover County census. In addition, the areas around EUE / Screen Gems Studios were also used to shoot a few scenes.

According to reports, several episodes of the horror film were also filmed in Brunswick County, the southernmost state of North Carolina. Considered one of the fastest-growing regions in the province, most of its economy comes from tourism as it is home to a few famous places like Oak Island and Bald Head Island. In addition, due to the proximity of the Screen Gems Studios mentioned above, it has become a popular production site for various movies and TV series.

For recording purposes, a team of organizers sets up camp in Columbus County, a region on the southeastern border of North Carolina. The cast and crew of ‘The Black Phone’ are said to have traveled across the region to film a few indoor and outdoor film scenes.
The region has numerous large lakes, including Lake Tabor and Lake Waccamaw. The Green Wetlands are one of the most important features of the region.
